E³UDRES² spring summit 2025: ‘Deep tech for regions'.

From 17 to 21 March 2025, Saxion University of Applied Sciences, in collaboration with the Engaged and Entrepreneurial European University as a Driver for Smart and Sustainable Regions (E³UDRES²), will host the highly anticipated E³UDRES² Spring Summit 2025. Held in Enschede, this dynamic event will unite international stakeholders, researchers, policymakers, students, and industry leaders to explore cutting-edge developments in regional innovation, higher education, and applied research.

E³UDRES² is a European University Alliance fostering smart and sustainable innovation through collaboration between universities, businesses, and regional stakeholders. The alliance aims to co-create knowledge, drive digital transformation, and support regional development across Europe.

Why this summit matters

As global challenges demand smarter and more sustainable solutions, the E³UDRES² Spring Summit 2025 serves as a crucial platform for fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and shaping policies that will define the future of higher education and regional development.

Programme

The five-day summit will feature a range of keynote speeches, panel discussions, breakout sessions, and networking opportunities, all designed to foster collaboration and drive impactful solutions for the future. Highlights include:

  • International stakeholders’ forum (17 March): Opening keynote by Pedro Dominguinhos, Director of the Recovery and Resilience Fund in Portugal, followed by a company visit showcasing deep-tech innovations in the region.

  • Science festival & innovation hubs (18 March): Showcasing the E³UDRES² Innovation Hubs and their role in regional development.

  • Keynotes from national and regional Leaders (18 March): Insights on driving innovation and creating regional impact from Erwin Hoogland (Deputy of the Province of Overijssel), an introduction to the Twente Board by Marijke Schippers and Sjoerd Jansen, and a presentation from the Municipality of Enschede by Barbara Verbeek and Ruud Koopman (lecturer at Saxion). 

  • General assembly & future universities discussions (19-21 March): Engaging sessions on the future of education, research collaboration, and regional impact.

Objective

The E³UDRES² Spring Summit 2025 aims to enhance international cooperation in higher education and research, strengthen university-industry collaborations, and drive regional innovation for a more sustainable and connected future.

Target audience

This event is designed for academics, researchers, business leaders, policymakers, students, and innovation-driven organisations looking to engage in meaningful discussions on the future of education, entrepreneurship, and smart regional development.
