What to do during Spring in the Netherlands
Spring is one of the best seasons in the Netherlands because there are so many beautiful places to explore and plenty of fun activities to do. Based on my personal experience, I gathered the must-see attractions you should visit in the Netherlands around springtime.
Go to the beach
Although the Netherlands is not known for its beaches, I think they are underrated and it is totally worth visiting around Easter time. The Netherlands has an array of beautiful sandy beaches and you can find there cafes and restaurants as well. I recommend visiting Scheveningen, Noordwijk or Egmond on a sunny spring day.
Visit Keukenhof and watch the Flower Parade
Everyone knows about the famous Dutch tulip park named Keukenhof. It is a must-see when you are in the Netherlands during spring. The park is located at Lisse and is dedicated to the tulip and other spring flowers. We also recommend watching the Flower Parade, which will take place on the 22nd of April this year. The parade will ride from Noordwijk via the flower fields near Lisse to the city of Haarlem.
Taste every cheese at cheese markets
The Netherlands is very famous for its cheese and if you would like to try it, here is your chance! The cheese market season is coming up and the cheese farmers and traders will meet on the market square to sell their products, but also to offer visitors tastings of different cheeses. There are markets in Gouda, Alkmaar, Edam, Hoorn and Woerden and they start at the end of March.
Live for the thrill, go for a ride
If you are a fan of roller coasters, then you should visit one of the amusement parks in the Netherlands. Efteling is the largest theme park in the Netherlands and is known as the “Dutch Disneyland”. It is split into four themed zones and has roller coasters for all ages! Another park that is worth visiting is the Walibi, where you will find one of the toughest thrill rides in Europe.
