How to request housing
In case you are an exchange student (including non-EU/EEA students) you can indicate if you would like to reserve a room via the Saxion exchange application in the Saxion application portal.
Please note we only have limited availability.
Application deadline
You can indicate you would be interested in reserving a Saxion room via your exchange application until the 1st of May 2025 for our fall semester.
Rental costs 💰
The standard period for exchange students that get assigned to a Saxion room is one semester (5.5/6 months) and the rental fee for a Saxion room for this period is dependent on the location and room type that you will be assigned to (e.a. m2 en energy label).
Deventer: all rooms have the same m2 and energy label. Rent is €567 per month.
Enschede: rental price per room differ. Rent varies between €507 and €676 per month.
Rental prices above include all utilities, such as water, gas, electricity and WiFi etc.
Additionally, a deposit of € 500,- is required. This deposit will be refunded after leaving the accommodation tidy, clean and without any damages. Details on the type of rooms Saxion offers can be found in this website.
Payment deadline ✅
The Saxion payment deadline for exchange students is set on 1 July 2025 (fall semester). It is not possible to cut the rental arrangement short.
Alternative offer
In case it is not possible to make use of our own offer we will try our utmost to arrange an alternative offer via one of our student housing partners. Please note for this alternative offer the prices, rental period, facilities, distance to Saxion and type of rooms might differ from the Saxion rooms.
When to expect to receive information
If you did hand in a request for reserving Saxion housing as an exchange student, Saxion will contact you at the end of May. For students staying in Enschede, you will receive a form via email in which you may indicate your room type preference. Deventer is automatically arranged regarding the room type, as all rooms have the same rental price.
Room type preferences are not accepted by email, and only via the designated form that you receive from us.
Reservation procedure

Register for a room via the student registration portal (SIS) (this registration does not mean your room is confirmed, this is only a request).

Enschede students: Room type preference filled in via designated form. Which you receive via e-mail after 15 May 2025.

Room type is assigned and communicated to you before 15 June 2025.

After 15 June 2025 you will receive the invoice for your rental fees. The payment is to be done before 1 July 2025. More information about the payment is explained in the invoice. Your room reservation is confirmed after we receive your payment by 1 July 2025.
