Name: Victoria Faal Age: 21 (28-10-2002) Field of Study: International Business (with specialisation in Spanish) Year of Study: year 4
Take us through your story! Why did you choose this study? Did you find it easy or difficult to make your study choice?
I chose International Business with a specialization in Spanish because I have always been curious about how companies operate globally and have a passion for the Spanish language. It wasn't that difficult to choose since I wanted to study abroad, and this program offered three semesters for that.
What do you enjoy most about your study so far and why? How did this interest come about?
I enjoy learning about how businesses operate globally which I saw in practuce during my internship in Spain where I loved exploring Spanish culture. I grew up in a mix of cultures, so it feels natural for me. Meeting people from different parts of the world during my studies has also been enriching.
Can you already apply your education in practice? Can you give concrete examples? For instance, during internships or in your part-time job?
Yes! During my internships, I have used what I learned in class to analyse markets and create marketing plans for example. It helped the company I worked for expand their reach.
Explore different cultures and embrace diversity. Understanding people's backgrounds is crucial in the global business world.
A glimpse into your future. What are your dreams? What do you want to achieve or work towards?
I dream of working remotely to also be able to travel and see the world.
Imagine: you are a study advisor for your own program. What is the most important, enjoyable, or interesting advice you would give to someone considering this study?
Dive into different cultures whenever you can! Whether through language classes, internships, jobs like I did when I joined DSIF as brand director, or events. It will help you learn and grow.
Do you have any inspiring tips for other students? Good life hacks for your (mental and physical) health? Or other advice to successfully complete the study?
One tip I would like to share is: take the opportunity to study or do an internship abroad during your studies. It is incredibly accessible to do this during your studies and is not only academically enriching, but also beneficial for your mental wellbeing.
