Software Engineering focuses mainly on the engineering of software and programming, which means that working with only a laptop or computer is sufficient. You will also get courses in electrical engineering and mathematics. It is more technical and you also work with actual tools like for example a screwdriver and soldering iron. There is also a lot of programming, but then not only with a computer but also with robots for example.
The study programme Mechatronics is a combination of mechanical engineering, IT and electrical engineering with a focus on system integration.
