Saxion involved in seven of the twelve projects awarded in the Regional Deal ‘Stronger in 3D’
Last week, Regio Stedendriehoek (working partnership of Apeldoorn, Deventer, Zutphen and surroundings) announced that seven projects involving Saxion as either coordinator or partner, will receive funding from the Regional Deal ‘Stronger in 3D’. This concerns the granting of a total of more than two million euros in funding.
Saxion and partners from the Stedendriehoek are joining forces for these projects. The projects are aimed at contributing to the general prosperity of the region. They focus on specific themes that are important to the Stedendriehoek region.
Timo Kos, member of Saxion’s Executive Board: “This is a fantastic result. There are great opportunities for further scaling up of successful collaborations between the business community, education and government bodies in the Stedendriehoek. As a leader or partner in these projects, Saxion is contributing to innovations and solving social issues through education, applied research and entrepreneurship, both in our own region and at a national level. I am extremely proud that we, as a university of applied sciences, can make such a substantial contribution to this. A big compliment is due to the colleagues and partners who have worked hard on these project proposals.”

Partners
Saxion is a partner in the following projects.
Fibre Valley. A climate-neutral and bio-circular business park (municipality of Deventer)
The Fibre Valley project aims to stimulate the industrial component of the chain for bio-based construction in the region. This is being done by setting up a cooperative collaboration, in the form of an innovation cluster focused on bio-based and circular construction. In reality, this means setting up a bio-circular business park to scale up industrial processing and production capacity as well as creating an innovation hub with test facilities.
Smart Energy Hubs (East-NL)
The Smart Energy Hubs programme is a collaboration of companies, municipalities, provinces, business community organisations, grid operators and other stakeholders. The aim is to design and realise energy hubs and learn to make choices together, in order to move forward. The aim is also to achieve breakthroughs at the regional level and contribute to a future-proof energy system and sustainable energy supply through regional energy hubs (including storage and transport).
Cooperative Joining of Regional Forces (NewTechpark)
The aim of the Cooperative Joining of Regional Forces project is to improve connections between innovation and the labour market. This creates more economic clout and sufficient room for innovation in the labour market. The project has three main priorities:
- Strengthening: Ensuring that innovation and labour market initiatives work better together.
- Accelerating: Setting up efficient clusters for innovation, so these can rapidly respond to market changes. Education, government bodies and entrepreneurs work together within clear frameworks and platforms.
- Broadening: Strengthening regional cooperation in the labour market, focusing on knowledge sharing, setting up learning communities and developing best practices.
Strong SME Stedendriehoek Region (Ondernemershuis Deventer)
The project Strong SME Stedendriehoek Region focuses on improving services to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Stedendriehoek region. This involves looking at how services can better meet the needs of SMEs. This is being done by: linking demand activation among entrepreneurs to advice.
