New Master’s in Applied Quantum Technology Launching in 2025

Reading time Minutes

Four Dutch universities of applied sciences – Amsterdam, Fontys, Saxion, and The Hague – received initial approval to launch a Master’s programme in Applied Quantum Technology (AQT) in September 2025, pending final accreditation by the Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organisation (NVAO).

About the Programme

This two-year, full-time master’s programme brings together four universities of applied sciences to train future quantum professionals. With a focus on practical skills in quantum hardware and software, students can specialise in Quantum Software, Quantum Electronics, or Quantum Photonics. The programme includes an internship with industry or research partners, preparing graduates for careers in quantum technology.

Future proof collaboration

Offered as a joint degree, it leverages each university’s unique strengths, from photonics and electronics to software. Students will study across multiple campuses, collaborating with peers and faculty nationwide.

Bringing Quantum to Industry

The Netherlands is at the forefront of global quantum development, with a robust ecosystem supported by government investments such as the National Growth Fund. Graduates will emerge as highly skilled professionals equipped to work in interdisciplinary teams on cutting-edge projects. The programme is designed to meet the growing industry demand for hands-on professionals, addressing a critical skills gap in the quantum technology workforce.
