Teacher training exchange - Students from Münster visit School of Education
On 24 November, students and lecturers from the Universität Münster visited Saxion’s teacher training programme. The day was full of interesting encounters and educational experiences.
After a warm welcome with coffee and local snacks, students headed off in small groups to visit primary schools in Enschede and Losser. There they were welcomed by teacher training students with their school mentors. “The Münster students were very enthusiastic,” tells Marleen van Grunsven, International Officer at the School of Education. “They had the opportunity to observe teaching practice and learn more about Dutch education.”
Digitalisation in the Future Learning Lab
In the afternoon there was a varied programme at Saxion. Students attended a lecture on digitalisation in education and there were also workshops in the Future Learning Lab. Here students could try out new educational technology. For example, virtual reality and bee-bots.
The school visits were also discussed and experiences shared. “The students had a lot of questions about how education and teacher training are organised in the Netherlands,” says Marleen van Grunsven. “Comparing the differences and similarities with Germany provided a lot of interesting insights.”
Long-term cooperation
The School of Education and teacher training programme at Universität Münster have been working together for many years. Student exchanges enable students to find out more about education in their neighbouring country along with current developments and challenges. In 2023 more than 200 students and lecturers from Saxion and the University of Münster participated in multi-day visits. This long-term cooperation now has an official place within the Interreg project ‘Euregionale doorlopende leerlijn’.
