Vega-liscious hotspots!

An easy way of starting a more sustainable lifestyle, is by eating (occasionally) meat or diary free. The vegetarian or vegan lifestyle has become more popular and integrated in our daily life. Where you used to have trouble finding a vega (or vegan) lunchroom or hotspot back in the days, it is nowadays much easier to find a nice hotspot that serves delicious vega (or vegan) dishes. We have gathered our students own favourite sustainable-proof hotspots in Deventer, Enschede or Apeldoorn.

  1. ETN

This hotspot is not entirely vegan, but offers many options such as creating your own salad. Sit down in their cosy restaurant, order a take-away meal or visit their vegan bakery.

  1. Food bar Rauw

Rauw is located in the Twentsche Foodhal and is entirely vegan. Their name (raw) is derived from the fact that (most of) their dishes can be eaten raw. Want to learn how to create vegan dishes yourself? Rauw organizes vegan cooking workshops!

  1. De Basis

De Basis is not entirely vegan, but is mainly focused on seasonal vegetables. They serve homegrown vegetables from their own garden and take into account any allergies you might have, such as a diary allergy or gluten allergy. We like!

  1. Het Paradijs

This ‘paradise’ serves dishes made out of fair trade and biological products. Admire their art collection in their indoor garden, while enjoying a fair-trade dish.

  1. Van Doorn & Doorn

‘’Healthy food with a guilty pleasure’’. Van Doorn & Van Doorn creates comfort food with a healthy touch. Not all dishes are vega or vegan, but they offer some attractive options.

  1. Sync Ok

Sync Ok is by far the most sustainable hotspot in Deventer. Their dishes are entirely gluten-free and they offer various fresh vegetarian and vegan options. And to challenge all millennials, Sync Ok is the first phone-free restaurant!

  1. De Groene Sjef

De Groene Sjef is located at at the Fooddock Foodhal and serves entirely vegan food. Taste their famous Mexican Burger Wrap or Sushi Sandwich!

  1. Beryls

Beryls is actually a fish restaurant, but has many vegan options. Pop by for one of their fish and chips dishes, or order a vegan take-away menu. Brought home to you by bike, so definitely sustainable!

  1. Bagels & Beans

The Bagels & Bean chain is located in many cities, including Deventer (also in Enschede and Apeldoorn). They offer a good choice of vegan food, but also other vega options.

  1. ‘t Zusje

Share your vegan dishes! The food served at ‘t Zusje is not completely vegan but there are several vega and vegan options available.

  1. Klein Berlijn

  1. NETT

Located nearby the train station (and it’s worth the ride to visit Apeldoorn for this one), NETT serves international (vegan and mostly gluten-free) dishes.
